Story
Being in hospital can be a bewildering time, especially for older people. Not only can it be overwhelming and sometimes frightening, but patients often have little to occupy them during the long hours on the wards. Although we do our best to provide stimulation and interaction, we feel that patients, relatives, carers and staff alike could really benefit from new cognitive stimulating resources, and education on how and when to use them.
We know that brain stimulating activities can improve functioning and mood, and may even slow the progress of cognitive impairment and dementia. Helping to keep minds active, can enable people to maintain independence and enable them to continue their daily activities.
Lyn and I will be running the Balmoral 10k on Saturday 21 April to raise funds for this great cause. Please sponsor us, and help to improve patient care and experience in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Woodend hospitals!
