Weʼve raised £120 to bring The Making Rooms Laser Cutter back to the community

Funded on Sunday, 17th November 2019

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

Continuing with our fundraising campaign to raise money to bring our community laser cutters back to life we're raising the next instalment with a good old-fashioned raffle to win one of these stunning SolarDates Mirrors:

This is laser etched with the planets of our Solar System aligned as they were on your birthday or other special date and makes a very personal and unique wall hanging in any home. We are currently selling these for £100 each (See our Kickstarter page The Making Rooms Solar Dates Kickstarter ). But for a £5 raffle ticket you could win the first ever one off the production line (including postage and packing to a UK address - additional charges will apply for outside UK).

You can buy as many tickets as you like by donating any multiple of £5 and we will assign your raffle ticket numbers as the next available ones in our book.

The draw will be made at mid-day on Monday 28th October and we will announce the winner through this page (we will contact the winner directly too).

5 runner-up tickets will also be drawn and these tickets will win one of our stylish SolarDates pendants:

But don't worry, if you are not one of the lucky winners you will still have time to buy one of these or other beautiful products from this range in out Kickstarter campaign which will end on the 31st.

The Making Rooms Solar Dates Kickstarter

    Background

The Making Rooms large and small Laser Cutters have been the most popular machines in our free to use Fab Lab, used by over 2,000 people from our local community in Blackburn with Darwen and beyond.

They've been the basis for many of our charitable programmes for people with disabilities and are much loved by our younger users (and everyone else to be honest!).

Unfortunately the Laser Cutters have been used so much to make so many cool things, it has now taken its toll and both laser tubes have worn out to the extent that we can no longer offer use of the Laser Cutters to our community as it will cost around £5,500 to get both up and running and as a small not-for-profit Community Interest Company we simply don't have the funds.

With the generous support of lots of kind people we raised almost £1,500 from our Director, Eddie's recent Half-Marathon but we still need to raise a further £2,000 to fix just one of our laser cutters.
