    Story

After 5 long years of IVF, thanks to Jessops both Una & Foy were born 18th Oct 2017.

During our journey I was part of a trial and although on some occasions the treatment wasn't successful it is due to the trial that we, and other couples alike, had a happy ending!

Without Jessops, Una & Foy wouldn’t be here today, which is why a third of all the money I hope to raise will be going to Jessops.

During my pregnancy, I went to the Maternity Day Ward and the Labour award, just to name a few. Each time I went, every member of staff supported, reassured and helped!

At 34 weeks after Twin 1 (Una) had stopped/slowed down in growth, it was found that Twin 2 (Foy) had too much amniotic fluid around him. It was proposed that I would be induced the next day but due to a baby boom, it wasn't possible and I had to stay in hospital until 35 weeks. This was due in part to the fact that twins would require more resources, such as staff, cots and potential stays on SCBU. Thankfully, although both Una and Foy needed treatment for jaundice and potential infection (visiting SCBU twice a day) they didn't need to stay there and the 3 of us were able to stay together. We did stay in hospital for about a week after the twins birth but the staff on the maternity ward were fabulous. Each member of the team was lovely going above and beyond, even sorting a side room out and allowing David to stay over ❤

Thankfully, we didn't need to stay long as both Una and Foy were of decent health but it's not the case in MANY situations. There are some really poorly babies and mummies.

Without all three of these places our story could have been very different. There are still some challenges and I have to say it's the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. There’s no manual and I don't think you’re actually ever prepared no matter how much you think you are.

At each of these places we have had our ups and downs but the work rate of the staff work is second to none. There is such a drain on the NHS but every member of staff remained professional and worked tirelessly at all times even though I think I was a tough cookie to please 🙈

TO SOME IT’S A LONG AND BORING STORY, BUT THAT DOESN’T MATTER. WHAT MATTERS IS RAISING MONEY! I'm sure we all know someone who at some point has used one of these three places.

So far we have donated Christmas card money, booked to do 2x obstacle challenges in June (Total Warrior in Wetherby and Colour Obstacle at Rother Valley) we are also hoping that when we have Una and Foy christened those that wish to in lieu of gifts donations are made through this link :)
