In July 2017 Leigh was struck with Lymphatic Cancer at the age of 28. Living as a normal 28 year old, raising a family & running the small family restaurant in Inverness with his sister Jo. Life seemed normal but nothing could have prepared us for the traumatic times that were ahead.

From the very first day that Leigh was admitted to Oncology with what appears to be just a swollen leg. It became apparent that something was terribly wrong. After a few tests such as scans & blood tests. It was diagnoised as B Cell Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

The medical, personal care & support has been outstanding by all doctors & nurses in that department. More than we can ever imagine & we have learnt so much about what is done at this department without the support of the staff we don't know how we would have got through this very upsetting & difficult time.

We as a family can not thank the Oncology Department enough & as part of our mission to return our gratitude to the Oncology department at Raigmore Hospital. We are hoping to raise our target of £3,000 to help buy tea & biscuits for the nursing staff room or colouring books & magazines for patients or for the department to buy essential equipment.

We want to help families supporting loved ones & people affected by Cancer who are relying on the Oncology Department at Raigmore. They have been a tremendous support to helping us to understand & explain things especially to Leighs' 3 year old daughter. All she understands is that her Daddy has a bad leg & that he needs to go to hospital to get better & that is all she needs to know. With 1000 questions & worry of how you are you going to tell your loved ones, ask yourself how would you cope, who would you turn too?
