Story

Have you heard of The Treehouse? You may not have done as we are well hidden; tucked away in a quiet side street in Holt. The Treehouse is a café but not your run of the mill café, The Treehouse is a café but is so much more than just coffee and cake. We are a community café, we run groups and activities for children and adults, we have a community fridge which local businesses donate their ‘close-to-date’ goods to in order to help us both prevent unnecessarily adding to landfill while also helping people’s grocery budgets go a little further. We have baby weighing scales on site allowing new parents to come along and self weigh their babies and socialise with others.

As you arrive you will be greeted with our beautiful community garden, in the matter of a few months it has been transformed from an empty field to a colourful oasis of beauty, thanks to the dedication of a team of gardening volunteers. There are meandering paths, glorious flowerbeds, raised vegetable beds, and soon there will be secluded seating areas where customers can sit and enjoy their refreshments. Behind this is our wild garden where our groups are held and where there is always laughter to hear; we have a willow arch, a dinosaur mound, toys and lots of space to run, play, or simply just be, it also houses our special spce extension – a 19ft Mongolian yurt which is used for our groups and hired out to others wishing to use the space.

Our place is for everyone; young and old. It’s a place to come with friends, a place to make friends, a place to come and sit, a place to come and chat. There’s always someone to talk to if you wish or plenty of room to relax and take a few quiet moments.

Our café serves a variety of drinks both hot and cold, delicious cakes and bakes prepared fresh in our kitchen by our volunteer bakers, and light lunches. The café pays the bills to allow us to run all of our groups for free, and we keep our prices affordable.

We rely on our amazing team of volunteers to allow us to continue; we have a team each day who take orders, serve tables, wash up and chat to and listen to customers. We are looking to expand our volunteer team so if you think it might be something you would enjoy please do get in touch with us.

We are in the building that used to be Holt and Corpusty Children’s Centre, we took over the lease in 2019 to provide somewhere for people to get together and fundraising helps us to pay the ever increasing utility bills and replace and renew group resources so we always have something for everyone.
