    Story

    Inspire - Develop - Achieve

Have you seen someone experiencing a severe flashback, or even had one yourself? Have you spoken to someone at their darkest point suffering with depression or known someone who has taken their own life, leaving behind a family? These are a few examples of what we, as a team, have witnessed. It is something that happens far more than it should and some of the reasons why we developed this project.

Who are we and who do we support?

Warriors Woodland is a not-for-profit organisation developed and operated by a small team of Veterans. We provide opportunities, support and an environment rich with the sense of inspiration. This leads to development and achievement through peer to peer outdoor wilderness workshops and events for serving and veterans of the military family.

The RED beacon project is specific to our military family. Amongst those attending are supported Veterans, those still serving and those being supported by Personnel Recovery Units.

    What do we provide?

We are currently able to offer day and overnight workshops. These are all held at our private woodland surrounded by nature. The workshops are individually tailored for the participants and include activities, food, overnight shelter and a chance to relax away from the stress and issues many are experiencing.

    Where are we located?

Our woodland is in Aberdeenshire, Scotland on the edge of the Cairngorms National Park.

    When do we operate?

All year round, the weather is something we can prepare for and with good kit and equipment we will be able to achieve so much more!

    What do we do?

We provide an opportunity at one of our wilderness workshops for someone to talk, laugh and feel part of a team with other like minded individuals. We teach new skills and encourage participants to develop them further. We aim to inspire others to achieve.

As a team we have over 50 years military experience and have served in conflict zones such as the Balkans, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan. As Veterans ourselves, we know those who have struggled and recovered but also those who didn't.

So why this amount and what will it be used for?

After a recent donation there is no charge to any of our participants to take part in workshops. We have previously been asked if we can provide equipment such as sleeping bags, waterproofs and other outdoor equipment for participants but currently we do not have any funding to provide this. The money raised from this crowd fund will be used to purchase the equipment required for participants to take part in workshops and will then increase the amount of people we can support.

We will aim to purchase 7 sets of:

Sleeping bag (4 season), Sleeping bag liner, Roll Mat and waterproof bag.

    Day Sack for hiking.

Waterproof jacket, Trousers and cold weather fleece.

    Winter hat/gloves.

Mug, Water bottle, knife/fork/spoon set, plate, bowl.

    Torch.

    Local map and case,

    Compass and whistle

If we manage to exceed our fundraising target, we will then be able to buy more equipment to be used in skills training such as - bushcraft knives, whittling knives, crook knives, robins wood carving axes, folding saws and individual first aid kits. It will also allow us to run more workshops and give opportunities to those needing it most.

    Gold Star Donations.

If you are part of a business or larger scale company and would like to support this project we will in return provide some great opportunities and experiences for you and your team:

£500 will be rewarded with a full day of at the warriors camp for you and your team. You will spend the day out in nature learning bushcraft skills like whittling, camp fire cooking, fire lighting less the matches and even axe throwing for up to 8 people.

£1000+ will be rewarded with the a 24hr experience for a team of 6, you will construct your own shelters to stay in learn skills to be self sufficient and be fully immersed in nature. This is fully supported with a qualified instructor and includes all food, drink and equipment.

These will be provided through the 2022/23 year and more details can be provided prior to the donation please email for further details.

Thank you for sparing the time to read this. Now you know all about our passion as well as our project. Any donation will be hugely appreciated.

The progress just lately has been tremendous. Thankyou to the Capercaille Quines for doing so well in raising both awareness and funding for this project, as well as hearing how they have really enjoyed spending time outdoors taking on the challenge. Up next is Pip, every day in December she will be getting herself into some form of open water for a dip/swim for no less than 2minutes. It's going to be a real challenge! Mentally and physically! Follow her journey by scanning the QR code below, there will be daily videos and discussions.

It was great to support Becky and Sarah as they completed the 15km Illuminator night event, over hills and exposed ground the weather did not dampen the spirit of the event and they why they chose to help. Truely grateful to have people like this around us to help raise funds and spread the awareness of the project. And it was nice to get the plate carrier out as well which represents the military aspect. 2 more events to go so please keep supporting the project and these 2 awesome ladies!
