Story
I will be going on a 15 day charity trek to Mount Everest Base Camp in order to raise money for the Kalika Primary School project. The school was destroyed in the devastating earthquake back in 2015. Specifically the money will go towards building two new classrooms and, crucially, an earthquake-proof roof.
After suffering from a serious mental illness which meant I had to suspend my masters course at university, I wanted to spend my year out doing something meaningful which helps some of the most desperate and needy people whilst using this once in a lifetime trip to demonstrate that I will not be beaten by illness and that people can overcome and manage mental illness with the right support mechanisms in place and through being empowered to speak out and achieve things like this.
