Story
As many people may be aware the old air raid shelter on King Georges Playing Fields has been used by Thornton-Cleveleys Gala Committee for the last 30 years to store all our equipment for Gala Day. Unfortunately over the past few years it has been severely vandalised - with the roof being set on fire, the concrete roof being cracked through children jumping on the roof and bricks removed form the walls.
This damage is now affecting not only the hut but our equipment in the hut with many items having to be replaced year on year due to the damp conditions they are sat in. Thornton-Cleveleys Gala has been running for 120 years as a non-profit organisation putting on events for the local community and we need your help to be able to continue putting on this event. We cannot afford to be able to continually replace the equipment in the hut, we need to repair the hut to prevent any further damage being done to it.

I was involved in the Gala in the 1960’s when there was a financial problem which was relieved by a generous gift from Solicitor Bryan Priestley. I hope you meet the target and the Gala continues.

Good luck in your quest. Such a shame that vandalism has the potential to ruin this long held tradition.
