Together (2016/17) is an international group of like-minded volunteers who wanted to make a small but effective contribution to help with the refugee crisis in Greece.

Amongst many other Together projects, we have purchased, transported & distributed desperately needed supplies & equipment including; food, baby milk, clothes, shoes, camping equipment, blankets, power tools & smoke detectors. We have also collaborated on various humanitarian & ecological projects with Lighthouse Relief, Chefs Without Borders, Ekopolis & Better Days for Moria.

Our ongoing project utilises abandoned properties in Northern Greece for housing refugee families pending successful & legal onward travel (relocation or reunification) or asylum applications. In March, following a process of cleaning, restoration of services & furnishing, we housed 2 Syrian families (including 7 children) in apartments in the small town of Goumenissa.

Over & above supplying a roof & many basic essentials, we have supported the Abdi family through a complicated but successful birth (of their beautiful baby Joanna) & have supplied both families with information, language help, emotional support, schooling, work & supporting for their varying application processes.

We have been solely run by volunteers and private donations & to date have raised over 25,000 euros. However our remaining funds will only support our families until the end of October this year.

Sadly the wheels of refugee administration turn painfully slowly & it is my hope to raise a further £5,500 to keep our families safe & warm through the winter months, look to expand the project during my October trip while continuing to identify new areas where we can help.
