On the 30th June 2018 my challenge is to walk on the South West Coast Path of Cornwall from Lands End to Porthleven which is approximatley 28 miles over 12 hours (a nurses shift)

I work as a Community Nurse in the Helston area and will be raising money towards a piece of vital equipment for all to use.

I am also raising money for my chosen charity which is 'Ankylosing Spondylitis' (AS). This is a long term condition which the spine and other areas of the body become inflamed. Symptoms vary from back pain, stiffness, pain and swelling caused by inflammation of joints (arthritis) and extreme tiredness and fatigue. There is no cure for AS and it is not possible to reverse the damage caused by the conditon but it is treatable.

AS is close to my heart as my twin brother Graham was diagnosed with this condition in 2001 and he struggles on a daily basis to function 'normally'. Despite this he works full time. Graham calls it the 'Hidden Illness' and says the hardest thing is ''it's not what I can't do that bothers me" about AS, it's the "I used to be able to do that" that's hard. He doesn't ever let this stop him and does all he can for his son Wills and they have a very close relationship. It is difficult to see my twin struggle so the money raised will be given to the NASS (National Ankylosing Spondilitis Society) to help research into this condition.
