Story

Dani & Matt TRI for Henry

In just a few weeks time myself, Matt and our friends will be competing in our first ever triathlon.

Those who know Matt and I well will be rather surprised at this news as sporty or athletic is something we are not. In fact, before we undertook this challenge, I hadn’t swum in open water before, did not own a bike, had never cycled on the roads and any serious running was usually for the train after work. Though it will not be an Olympic distance, it is fair to say that to us, this will be a considerable challenge.

And those who know us really well will know that before this there was only one sport in our lives; skiing, a passion we have shared since childhood. These two interests collided when we heard about a local family who were fundraising to buy specialist equipment for their son Henry so that he can be included in a family skiing holiday.

Sadly, Henry has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and may never be able to walk or stand independently. He has recently found joy with a local disabled skiing club but requires a Disability Sit Ski in order for him to experience the real thing, a dream his family wish to fulfil.

Our triathlon provides us with a great opportunity to help fundraise and as keen skiers we want every child, including Henry to have the opportunity to have this experience. Please help us to make his dream a reality.
