Story
Trinity Academy, in Thorne, Doncaster, is part of the Emmanuel Schools Foundation, which recently celebrated its 25th Anniversary. As part of the celebration, the foundation raised £45,000, by hosting coast-2-coast cycle rides, charity football matches and pop-up shops, to fulfil the long standing vision of building a primary school for the local people in one of the most deprived townships in South Africa. For the past few years, students from the ESF schools have visited the Nokuphilia School in Tembisa to support the work of a charity called Love Trust, who deliver high quality pre-school and primary education in townships across South Africa. A group of 6 Year 12 students from Trinity Academy will join an ESF team of 24 students and travel to the other side of the world on a journey of a lifetime.
Tembisa is the third largest township in South Africa with significant social problems due to high rates of unemployment, crime, HIV, illiteracy, and poor sanitation to name a few. In Tembisa, Love Trust have been able to purchase a suitable piece of land in the heart of the township, adjacent to one of the main transport routes through the district where Love Trust’s vision is for a primary school to be built from refurbished containers. It will accommodate 4 classes and have space for a hall in the middle of the building.
Our team of 6 students from Trinity Academy have already contributed £800 personally and each need to raise £1000 as well. We have already run numerous events, such as a sportathon, a school concert, a quiz night, a football tournament, a valentines cookie service as well as our own individual challenges. This is how we raised the £5000 already in the bank.
We are in search of anything you may be willing to donate.
Thank you for your support and generosity.
