    Story

    The Challenge

Hi! We are Tom Blair and Tristan Plet and we are raising £250 in order to take part in the ‘Great Escape’ jailbreak challenge. The aim is to get as far away from Nottingham, UK as possible in 36 hours by any means possible, without using any of your own money, purely on favours and donations! Previous best efforts from students of University of Nottingham have been Dubai, as well an array of destinations in Europe. But we want to beat that!

    The Cause

All of your donations will go directly to Enactus , a non-profit student-led organisation which runs amazing projects within impoverished communities, both international and domestic. Enactus gives students the opportunity to help transform the lives of those in need through setting up social enterprises. These projects include providing materials, technology and education in order to build more sustainable lives. There are a number of current projects being run by University of Nottingham students, including a project called bottle-to-bottle, a project aiming to help Nepalese people rebuild their lives after a number of devastating earthquakes in recent years, as well as many other amazing projects.

Tristan is currently a member of Enactus and is running the project Stiima. The project aims to help low-income communities in Kenya by providing them with the means to generate a clean source of electricity from cooking heat. Providing clean energy will eliminate the need for burning kerosene for light, which is a known cause for lung cancer and other diseases.

Your donations would directly aid Tristan’s project!

Please visit the Enactus Nottingham website if you wish to learn more about the projects.

    How You Can Help

We have until the 1st March to raise £250 to be able to take part in this challenge, however we wish to raise much more. Small or large, any donations would be very much appreciated!

Note: all of your donations will go towards helping out current Enactus projects, not our travels! It is then completely up to us to raise money for flights, trains or any transport during the 36 hours available.

In addition to monetary donations, other forms of support can be provided. We are in need of contacts for transport, for planes, trains and so on, as well as the actual transport itself. So if you wish to help us achieve our goals, or know someone who can, please contact us directly!

You can keep up-to-date on our adventures via our Facebook pages, as well as through the Great Escape Nottingham Facebook page, where there’ll be regular map and photo updates from each of the groups. Just look out for Team “Fathers Abroad”!

We thank you in advance for any donations or contribution you can provide. We're counting on you!
