Story
Seven members of the Orange Institution plan to walk an average of 10,000 steps per day throughout July in aid of two worthy causes!
But why 10,000 steps????
Well Health Bodies and Authorities have been telling us for several years now that we should be walking at least 10,000 steps per day. This is because people who take fewer than 5,000 steps are considered to be sedentary or inactive. Those who take 5,000 to 7,499 steps daily have a low active lifestyle. Somewhat active people usually take 7,500 to 9,999 steps per day, and people considered to be active take 10,000 or more steps per day.
So we want to set a
"Two Million Step Challenge" for July with 7 brethren taking part. That will mean that each participant will have to walk just over an average 10,000 steps each day!
That may sound like a lot, but when you see it takes 500 steps to walk from the car park to the supermarket you're well on your way to hitting your goal. Also bearing in mind that July will include the 1st of July parades, the 12th, the 13th and many other parades then completing an average of 10,000 should surely be within their capabilities.
Each brother will also be collecting sponsorship either per step, or if they reach their 333,333 target!
The total profits will then be split between the Drew Nelson Legacy Project and Gospel Goal to form the Two Million Step Challenge.
