In July 2017 Tyler was diagnosed with a rare life-limiting genetic disorder called Fanconi Anaemia, which has caused bone marrow failure and is a predisposition to different cancers in childhood and later life.

Throughout the 2017 school holiday he managed to tick as many items off of his wish list as he could. The main one unfortunately he was unable to fulfil, was for him to go abroad and swim with dolphins in the sea.

Tyler has been very fortunate that a perfectly matched bone marrow donor has been found and he has already started chemotherapy in preparation for the transplant to take place. This will involve 6-8 weeks in hospital, followed by many months of recovery.

Whilst a successfully bone marrow transplant will correct the bone marrow failure element of the condition, there is at present no cure for the cancer-predisposing condition.

We cannot understand how difficult this must be for Tyler, his family and his friends during this time; we wanted to do something that would push our boundaries and be a challenge. In April 2018, Colin Jones and myself will be completing the Moors and Shores Adventure Bike Ride (58 miles and 3648ft) in aid of this fantastic little boy. Our aim is to raise as much money as possible which will be given to Tyler's family to help achieve his dream.
