    Story

This funding request is to support a small gathering of community learners who have been engaging with skills in visual arts practice and presentation techniques on a WEA course. We seek to consolidate and develop our learning through working together as a more formal group: developing techniques particularly Psychogeography, experimenting and risk taking to develop a personal style and making an opportunity for ourselves to create an body of new work we can exhibit as 'Vernon Arts'.
We also wish to share our own practice and expect the exhibition to reflect our wider interests in type printing, storytelling, art journaling, sound healing and photography.
All group members have experienced enhanced well being on a variety of levels from the course and we would very much appreciate the opportunity to direct energy and enthusiasm into developing our practice and continuing the supportive network.
The small funding request is for room hire in an accessible room at the International Community Centre one morning per week over a month period, plus purchasing some basic resources i.e. charcoals, paints, brushes and paper/canvas.
We will use the (initially) four sessions to create a theme and concepts for our work which will reflect the journeys that brought us together, our sense of becoming Nottingham visual artists and our individual interests. We can discuss issues and practice and develop our shared learning of art critique and curation.
Having been supported to freely experiment, create, express ourselves and support each other we have shared our practice as well as our stories and have a vested interest in taking this to the next level in that same spirit of confident-risk taking. it is important to us and we hope you will be willing to offer a very small personal donation of £1.50 or £2.00 towards this venture in the hope that one day, in the not too distant future, we may send you an invite to our exhibition!
