Vijay Mandal lives in the jungle of Chhattisgarh in Central India. The 15 year old boy has been blind on his left eye from birth.

Recently though, eyesight in his right eye started declining rapidly. The worried parents took their son to the clinic of the local health charity The Tulsi Trust. The medical team was able to quickly refer him for a checkup in the Shree Ganesh Eye Clinic in several hours away Raipur.

Doctors there found that the condition needed urgent specialist treatment and surgery, and referred him to Sankara Nethralaya Eye Hospital in Chennay, where facilities are equipped for the required surgery.

The Tulsi Trust are a very small charity operating with very limited funds, and they are appealing for help to cover the costs of Vijay's treatment.

Cost of the operation was about 90'000 Indian Rupees, with an added 30'000 Rs for examinations, tests, and transport costs.

If we can gather this money between all of us, it will mean the world to a young boy and his family, and significantly lighten the burden on a charity that is already stretched to the very limits of what they can achieve with their finances.
