Story
Hi everyone
Thanks for checking out my just giving page.
Let me introduce myself, I'm Vikki (blonde in the photo) with my dear friend Elizabeth (taken at the 1st British Sign Language National Plan)
Elizabeth is a dear friend of mine who gave me the gift of British Sign Language almost 3 years ago. Since then I've successfully obtained my levels 1-3 in British Sign Language.
I would very much like to be able to achieve my Level 6 in British Sign Language but I've been unable to fully fund the course. I currently have manage to self fund £800 towards the costs.
I volunteer at the community centre Tayside Deaf Hub and for charity Deaf Links where I do a variety of jobs including interpreting, advocacy and fundraising.
I am also currently the Secretary for Dundee Deaf Sports & Social Club.
Achieving level 6 in British Sign Language would not only be an accomplishment for myself but it would give me a greater skill level that will benefit the charity I work for.
Achieving level 6 would allow me to have a greater understanding of British Sign Language which will allow me to communicate more fluently in my volunteer work.
Outside of my volunteering role I host a signing choir, having level 6 would allow me the skill set to translate and interpret music at a higher level in order for the choir to perform while raising awareness of sign language and the Deaf Community.
Outside of Tayside Deaf Hub I have volunteered as an interpret at charity events in order to create inclusion for the Deaf Commumity.while raising awareness for Deaf issues and sign language awareness.
Overall I am really passionate about British Sign Language and inclusion.
I'd be very grateful if you would donate to my cause.

7 years agoWhy is it so important I reach level 6? Deaf people cannot access information as easily as hearing people due to the lack of sign language in the hearing world, so they can miss out on important issues. Having level 6 BSL would help me have a greater knowledge of sign and allow me to translate more information to a higher standard which will reach the Deaf Community through my volunteer work with Deaf Links. Reaching level 6 will not only enrich my life but will help ensure the Deaf Community have equal access to information.
