    Story

    Hi Everyone

My beautiful Granddaughter Erin Georgia Wayman was born prematurely on 29/07/17. She received critical care in the Neonatal ICU and HDU Units at the Royal Infirmary, Wigan followed by outreach Neonatal at home, during her first few weeks, and is now thriving and doing really well. The Doctors, midwives and nursing staff have been brilliant throughout.

Sadly Last year my son Darren and daughter in law Vicky lost their son, George Stephen at 29 weeks on 14/09/17. Again they received great support from all the Staff at the Maternity Unit.

The NHS is constantly receiving a bad press but their support for Darren, Vicky and Erin has been great so I just wanted to say a big thank you and at the same time raise some money for the Neonatal Unit.

I will be doing a 55K sponsored walk on 29th October, walking the full length of the Rochdale canal from Sowerby Bridge to Manchester City Centre. If you would like to support the challenge and make a donation it would be very much appreciated.

      Update from the Page owner

Well folks the deed is done. Six of us set off and two of us completed the challenge. It was a beautiful day and we walked the 55K (33 miles) from Sowerby Bridge in west Yorkshire to Manchester Piccadilly Railway Station in 11 hours. A few aches and pains at the finish but it was worth it. I Just wanted to say a big thank you to you all for your generosity, which helped me exceed my target of £250. I am giving Darren and Vicky a cheque for £327 to give to the hospital. Thanks again.
