We aim to cover more than 100 miles in four days - roughly the same distance between Lviv, Ukraine, and Lublin, Poland. Easy, right?

In March, I travelled to Lviv, Ukraine, with a convoy delivering aid to Sofia, who has helped build a network of supply lines across the country.

Just a few months ago, she was a manager of a zero-waste company. Now, she runs the nerve centre of a resistance movement providing lifesaving support to soldiers and civilians on the front line. Your money will help Sofia and her friends to:

Feed, clothe and provide medical assistance for women, children and the elderly fleeing the war.

Purchase vehicles to deliver medical supplies to the front line and evacuate refugees from areas ravaged by fighting.

Provide non-lethal equipment, including body armour, helmets, bandages, electricity generators, and stretchers.

Russia's genocidal destruction of Ukraine is the defining crisis of our time. The sort of world our children grow up in is being decided right now. Seven million people have fled abroad, while a further eight million are internally displaced. Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians are being forcibly deported to Russia where a murky fate awaits them.

Ordinary people like Sofia are fighting to defend their sovereignty - and for the democratic rights the rest of us take for granted. If they are allowed to fail, Europe will never be safe again. Thousands more will be swallowed up by a brutal regime which denies their very right to exist - a regime we have directly financed through a decade of dependency on Russian oil and gas. Our privilege is built upon Ukraine's plight. We have a responsibility to put it right.
