We're raising funds to support Gemma and her family with travel and accommodation as she faces six weeks of cancer treatment after being diagnosed with glioblastoma (GBM).

Glioblastomas are grade 4 cancerous brain tumours, they are fast-growing and likely to spread. The best treatment currently is surgery to remove as much of the tumour as possible, which Gemma has already undergone and recovered extremely well from.

It is then followed by chemoradiation which is a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Generally, it involves radiotherapy given over a period of weeks alongside rounds of the chemotherapy drug temozolomide (TMZ). TMZ is also usually taken for a further 6 months after the radiotherapy has finished.

Gemma is about to face the 42 days of cancer treatment at Guy's Hospital in London and the accommodation for one room for Gemma and her family sharing a double twin room with en-suite is estimated at £95 a night, making it a total of £3990 for the whole 6 weeks.

To help raise these funds, Gemma's brother, James, and his girlfriend, Shannen - along with friends, Billy and Jasmine - are going to walk 13 miles around the coast of Thanet, starting at Ramsgate harbour and finishing at Minnis Bay on 10th April.

Gemma has been absolutely amazing thus far and we cannot admire her strength and bravery more. We're encouraging you to dig deep and give whatever you can to support Gemma and her family through such a difficult time. We appreciate all donations, big or small.
