Story
Sarah's story,
On November 26th Sarah fell from a great height and as a result is now paralyzed from the waist down, Having spent a few weeks at Nottingham she was transferred to Sheffield spinal unit where they are teaching Sarah to have an independent life with her 5 year old son and partner, Sarah is now looking forward to returning home to her family environment in a few weeks.
Unfortunately Sarah has been provided with a wheelchair that is too heavy to meet her needs for everyday life. A spinal cord injury is a severely disabling disability which we are only just beginning to grasp, It makes everyday tasks so much harder to do with her family, Sarah is learning how to do these tasks while she is in the unit at Sheffield, but without a light weight wheelchair Sarah will not be able to continue with the progress she has been making, Sarah will not be able to do the normal mummy things we all take for granted, school runs going to the park treats out ect.
Whilst life is going to be very different for Sarah as a family we are determined to make this situation as normal as possible for her.
As Sarah is only 29 years old we as a family feel that extra physio would give her the best possible opportunity to gain any strength back in her lower body, as the first 2 years are imperative for her recovery period.
There is a specialised physio unit in Cambridge that would provide Sarah with the extra help she would need to enable her to move on in her life.
We are trying to raise £10,000 in order to buy a lightweight wheelchair that will be around £7,000, and the extra physio which is around £3,000.
Any donations would be gratefully appreciated many thanks from Sarahs family.
