Story
Today we are very pleased to have returned one of the stallions we took in earlier this year back to his Common. He has been microchipped, passported, castrated and wormed. We will of course be keeping a close eye on him to see how he is getting on with his old friends and if he needs to come back to the Sanctuary for any reason. Helluva Boy as he is affectionately known is a very independent and hardy pony so we feel it appropriate that he is the first pony to be returned.
For some years now we have been working with local people and Dyffryn Tywi Vets to monitor and improve the welfare of the grazing ponies.
We see the ponies as an asset to the Commons both from their use as grazing animals as well as providing interest and pleasure to both the local people as well as visitors and tourists.
It is therefore important to reduce indiscriminate breeding so the health of these ponies does not deteriorate.
We taken in many ponies from Clyne Common ranging from orphaned foals to injured stallions and emaciated mares. These have received any necessary veterinary treatment and been wormed, vaccinated and the stallions castrated. We will be returning many of these ponies to the commons so they can then enjoy a natural lifestyle whilst having their needs met. There are several others stallions who we would like to bring in and later return as well as some colt foals who we will also be castrating. We are very enthusiastic about this project and hope it will solve some of the problems associated with these unowned ponies.
Please support us in whatever way you can as without help from you we cannot help these delightful animals.
