I am taking part in 'Strictly Bicester' 2018 to help raise money for my friend's brother, Oli, to access vital treatment to hopefully help cure his brain tumour.

Oli also went to the Royal Latin School, Buckingham, and then on to Uni. He graduated from Pembroke College Cambridge in 2013. He was 22 and just starting out in life with his dream job when he had a seizure completely out of the blue. That was in August 2014.

Tests were done and this resulted in Oli being diagnosed in December 2014 with a particularly aggressive brain tumour. He was given the awful prognosis of 12 to 18 months left to live.

He successfully underwent radiotherapy, chemotherapy and immunotherapy. This took 15 months. One month after finishing treatment Oli ran the London marathon in less than 4 hours. He raised 60k including gift aid for Brain Tumour Research.

He went back to work full time the day after the marathon to a very demanding job. All subsequent scans showed improvement thanks to the treatment he had received and he returned to a normal lifestyle.

Unfortunately last year more tests revealed the tumour had returned. He has recently undergone brain surgery to remove the affected tumour. An unfortunate side effect of the surgery has resulted in loss of peripheral vision. He starts chemotherapy next week which will last for between 9 and 12 months.

His oncologist would like him to receive a vaccine made from a culture developed from the tumour they have removed. This vaccine is called DC Vax-L.

Strictly Bicester is probably one of the biggest challenges I have personally taken on. Over the next few weeks, I will be training non-stop with my wonderful partner, Ben, to not only take part in the shows on 21 and 22 April, but raise money for such an important cause.

In competing in Strictly Bicester, I am asking for sponsorship to help to fund this vaccine which is not available on the NHS to enable Oli to have a wonderful future.
