Rhino Revolution is a charity that is working against the escalating rhino poaching crisis. Using a unique three prong approach of implementing tough and innovative anti-poaching measures, rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned calves for future release, and educating and inspiring the young people of the impoverished, local communities.

De-horning is likely to take place within the next week to fortnight as a prelude to getting the calves ready for release. Security and the threat in the immediate area is such that we want to do this ASAP as the calves will be safer in the reserve than in the creche enclosure. Release will happen in the next few weeks. I expect the release to be in November though.

We can say however that the calves are being prepped for release which is including not only the dehorning but a reduction in any feed supplements and introducing large vehicles with revving engines and banging car doors next to the enclosure all to get them into the mindset that "humans are bad", reducing the chance of them approaching potential poachers. We are also expecting to be preparing a new crash in the coming month or two.
