Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my page… please have a little read below about what I am doing and more importantly, why I am doing it…. and please please donate if you can xx

On Sunday 12th August I will be taking part in Newark Half Marathon… I’ve run a few shorter distances but I have never ever run this far so it will be a real challenge… of both mind and legs!

While it will be a personal achievement to complete this, the most important reason is to raise as much money as possible for a lovely little boy called Liam. Liam is the 5-year-old son of friends of ours and, devastatingly at the start of May, he was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma) which is a rare, inoperable, incurable brain tumour. Liam was given up to one year to live.

Whilst there is currently no cure, tests and trials are being carried out in a handful of places around the world to work towards a cure or extend the prognosis beyond a year.

Liam’s family and friends are doing everything possible to raise awareness, support and crucially funds to help towards possible specialised trials, as well as helping Liam, his Mum & Dad, and 3-year-old sister Evie, build as many special memories together as they can.

This half marathon is going to be tough for me…. it’s going to hurt both physically and mentally, but that is absolutely nothing compared to what Liam and his family are going though. So please, if you can spare a few pennies (or pounds 😊) to help please donate – every donation really counts.
