Hey guys! I was faced between cycling and shaving my head, and the former won, me (Steffani) and Layla will be cycling from West Quay to Shephards Bush (the furtherst possible distance between two Boris Bikes docking stations...putting those bikes to good use! Fair enough it's not an incredible distance but, for anyone who has seen me ride a bike, they will know that this is equal to swimming the channel for me) in order to raise money for Medical Aid/Care in Palestine! Event will be taking place on the Sunday 15th July 2012! Please donate as little or as much as you can!

Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza are often blocked from seeking medical assistance in Israel, they are deprived of self preservation, a basic human right. We often hear stories of women giving birth at check points, or young children dying form leukemia because they are often turned away at the border en route to chemotherapy sessions.

What Medical Aid for Palestinians seeks to do, as at least rectify one of the problems Palestinians in the Occupied Territories face on a daily basis - basic medical care. The charity offers practical medical support to Palestinians (aswell as OTHER victims of conflict and displacement) by working with local NGOs and the Palestinians Health Service, primarily focusing on those living in the West Bank and Gaza.

Their main objectives are:

Provide health care in isolated rural communities of the West Bank

Improve nutrition among refugees in Gaza

Contribute to psycho-social support efforts for women and children affected by the conflict

Assist people with congenital disabilities and disabilities due to injury.
