Story
Hi,
I'm Jimbo, I love adventure and the planet, so I decided to combine those 2 loves into the ultimate challenge.
On the 26th September 2019 I fly to Ushuaia (the worlds most southern city) in South America; I'm planning on cycling the length of South America, the hard way. 6500 miles in 6 months sounds hard enough but there's more to it than that.
Patagonia is one of the windiest places on the planet, which is pretty constant all day, every day. It mostly blows from North to South, thus I am mostly cycling into a ferocious headwind, which will be for at least 1000 miles of the trip.
Once the headwind is over the mountains start. I am following the length of the worlds longest mountain range, The Andes. Throughout the whole trip I will be crossing many of the worlds highest mountain passes. Peru is known as one of the worlds most vertical countries due to the amount of up and down there, I may be facing 50+ large mountain passes in this country alone.
Then there is the food and language barrier. I am going to be staying true to my vegan diet as much as humanly possible whilst not speaking much Spanish. This will probably be the toughest challenge of the trip!
I hope to raise £1 per mile that I cycle for the World Land Trust who are carrying out essential work on conserving the worlds ecosystems and habitats. A lot of the work the WLT is related to is in South America, so I hope to visit some of these sites and help out where possible.
Please donate all you can, more money means I go further, but I only have 6 months, so the further I go, the harder I have to push. Make me sweat people!
Love Jimbo
