Welfare Association works with some of the most marginalised Palestinian communities in the West Bank and Gaza and in the refugee camps and gatherings in Lebanon to overcome poverty. We provide support for health, education, emergency relief and livelihoods, especially for children and the disabled.
Story
Hello, I’m Lina Shehadeh and I’m Cycling 4 Gaza!
Dear all,
Welcome to my JustGiving page!
I am a marketing executive at Aramex www.aramex.com, and I will be participating in Cycling 4 Gazawww.cycling4gaza.com, an initiative that aims to raise funds for Palestinian education-related NGOs to contribute in improving the living conditions for the people of Gaza.
A group of 29 cyclers and I will take on a challenge to cycle an average of 90km per day in Italy, from 29th of September to 2nd of October, 2010 in order to raise the needed funds.
What are we cycling for this year?
The “Cycling 4 Gaza team-2010” is fundraising for the Welfare Association’s Early Childhood Development projects in Gaza.
The association is a UK registered charity established in 1993 to support the most vulnerable Palestinian communities in Gaza, the West Bank and refugee camps in Lebanon, through sustainable development programmes and emergency aid.
Who will benefit from the initiative? Atfaluna Society for Deaf Children
Atfaluna supports thousands of deaf children and their families through providing deaf education, audiology and speech therapy. Atfaluna also initiates income-generating programs for the deaf and provides vocational training and awareness programs for communities, parents and teachers.
Gaza Community Mental Health Program
The program provides psychological and social support services to traumatized children in Gaza by helping children to cope with the daily stresses and restrictions of life in Gaza.
Kanafani kindergartens
Run by the Ghassan Kanafani Development Association, these kindergartens understand the importance of the development of children in their formative years. They aim to provide children with an enabling environment and establish kindergartens that respond to children’s cultural, social and psychological needs. How can you support Gaza?
The minimum raised by each individual should be 1200 GBP, but I am keen in raising more, hence I have pledged for 5000 GBP. You can send your donations until 28th of September, one day before we start our cycling challenge.
You can support Gaza today by simply clicking on the link below and donating any amount you want, every contribution can make a big difference. Please support Gaza by clicking on the link here and donating show your support by sponsoring me on this challenge. Every penny counts, no matter how small.
Your donations will mean a lot to the children of Gaza:
- Provide £30 can provide shoes, a tracksuit, sweater and backpack for a school child
- £75 can provide psychosocial activities for a child over one year (sports equipment, field trips, play sessions, etc.)
- £100 can provide educational materials for one child for one year (books, educational games, musical instruments, etc.)
