Story

Dunwich Dynamo is a 120 miles over night cycle ride to Dunwich beach in complete darkness. Its adhoc there are no tickets, no support van, no directions and no first aid you just turn up at a Pub in Hackney, have a pint or two and head off from there, following the sea of red lights. The only consolidation is that you can swim in the sea, have a full English breakfast at the cafe on the beach and they arrange transport back. Around 1,500 people did it last year. 120 miles is quite a way so I decided to get some practice in:-

19 June - Official BHF London to Brighton + back (80 miles)

This is the reason for this page. You see I never had a ticket to this event. It was sold out months ago, so I gate crashed it while it run past my house in Redhill. The idea was only to do a few miles but with the atmosphere and hundreds of cycles all heading one way there is no way you could or would want to turn back. It was a great ride until I worked out that there were no bikes allowed on trains that day! Today it dawned upon me that I had raised no sponsor money for such a worthwhile cause.

25 June 2011 - Coulsdon / Brighton for practice (50 miles)

Just to get the practice in.

26 June 2011 - Little Havens Children’s Hospice (60 miles)

This is an organized charity ride through the Essex countryside. It is 60 miles in total and this time I am officially registered. Just Giving only allows one charity to be registered for sponsorship and this site is registered for the British Heart Foundation (my guilt trip for London/Brighton) but obvioulsy I would like to raise funds for Little Havens as well, being they are the chosen charity for this event. So this is what I am going to do:- I will personally match 100% of what is achieved in sponsorship and donate this to Little Havens Children’s Hospice (up to £500 grand total sponsorship) from my own money.

3 July - Surrey Air Ambulance (100 or 65 miles I decide on route)

Well at least on this one if I fall ill I can get an air ambulance back :). Basiacally this one is so I can get a century ride in before the big one. A company I know has kindly provided sponship for Surrey air ambulance and therfore any funds on here is my two charities of BHF and Little Havens. Due to a domestic matter at the weekend. I chose the 65 mile routel.

10 July - Capital to Coast (Redhill to Hove) 48 Miles

By amazing luck was going to Rusper for Sunday lunch with the neighbours by cycle and then hundreds of people around all going down to Hove. I missed lunch and was straight off the Hove. I could not miss this one managed to get the train back.

17 July - Dunwich Dynamo (120 miles)

This is the main event - 120 miles overnight leaving at 8pm and probably arriving about 10am next day.

So there you have it a total of lots of miles and a full donation to both British Heart Foundation and Little Havens Hospice. Would really appreciate any donations as for every one pound donated to BHF here it will get matched 100% by myself for Little Havens Hospice (up to £500 grand total sponsorship). I will include another page after the event to show that there has been a 100% match from myself. Please lets try and get to that magic £500 figure as that will mean £500 for Little Havens Hospice who look after critical ill children in their last weeks.

Thank you very much for your kind donation.
