Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Exactly 10 years ago our youngest son Ben was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). This is a devastating neuromuscular condition - and Ben's muscles deteriorate and waste away.
There is currently no cure for DMD.
When the diagnosis was first made there was very limited research or possible treatments available to help Ben. We have been part of multiple efforts to raise more awareness for the need for research, fundraise for investing in potential and viable treatments - and to provide Ben with the best opportunities in life.
Ben is now 15 years old and studying hard for his GCSE's. He has a great sense of humour, and just like any other teenager he loves socialising and listening to music...
Scientists have recently made a major new discovery in developing an elusive cure for DMD. There are now multiple, potentially viable treatments on the horizon for the first time in history! These viable options provide tremendous hope for the individuals and families affected by DMD. Families like ours and individuals like Ben...
As part of an initiative organised by Action Duchenne, I am cycling from Land's End in Cornwall - to John O'Groats in northern Scotland. This is from the bottom of England to the tip of Scotland - 1,000 miles in just 10 days. 100 miles per day on the bike, for 10 days...(yes, I do have gel shorts...!).
You can add your support by donating the cost of just 2 pints - this will make a significant difference to individuals and families affected by DMD. Your support will be very much appreciated and a small donation of just £5 will help to fund vital research for the future.
