Story

Thanks everyone who visited this page, give me support and advice.  I am now a little bit tired and may got to bed for a few days.

Hi!!!!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my first ever JustGiving page!

Now, those of you that know me would probably not categorise me as a prolific runner.  I did a 5km charity run a few years ago and I occasionally run around the parks of Highbury for half an hour a week to make the most of our "summer" but that's generally it.  So yesterday I woke up and thought what could be more natural than upping my previous 5km max distance and signing myself up to run 26 miles.

So the reason I'm doing this... well it's all about raising money for the Red Cross.  I think everyone has an idea of what the Red Cross does.  Their work internationally has been monumental over the last hundred years being the first people to step in to every war, conflict and disaster and saving the lives of those in need.  They do such amazing front line work globally and also all over the UK that I could not begin to describe in just this page.  Basically put, they refuse to ignore people in crisis and I am sure we all know when crisis hits us and those close to us it turns our world upside.  The Red Cross are doing so much to allievate the lives of millions and millions of people and I really want to help raise money that will make such a difference.

As some of you know I help with various collections for the Red Cross but to let people know how committed I am to the cause of collecting for the Red Cross and how much I believe in it I thought I should go a little further and pledge to do something I would not normally do, that I don't even know if I can do, if you visit the Red Cross Website, look at all the great work they do and contribute to their amazing projects and programs.

I will know for definite if I have a place on the marathon in October but to increase my chances I need to show how committed I am to fundraising so, in conjuncture with the start of Red Cross Week 6th May to 11th May I am launching my campaign to Run For The Red Cross.

I would love to raise as much as possible, hopefully beyond £2,000 and I could really do with your help and support.  I will be kicking off a YouTube channel soon where I will be showing my attempts to train and go from completely unfit to, hopefully, capable of going the distance.  Also on the channel I will be posting more information about Red Cross activities and how you can get involved.  Also to raise money I will be looking to you to help with ideas and maybe come along to a couple of events like a Dance-a-thon in keeping with the keep fit theme and doing an auction and raffle where you can donate stuff and all the proceeds will go to the Red Cross.

I'm really excited about the months ahead and hope you are too!
