Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As your reading this, I'm guessing you already know me...

Which means you're probably well aware that:

  • I've never done any fundraising before
  • I've never climbed a mountain before
  • And my relationship with fitness is very much an aspirational one

Which has got you all wondering....  Why Change, Why Now, Why This?

Well.............. Some of it is circumstantial.... those circumstances being a combination of a, a mid-life crisis, b, the rapid expansion of ones waistline and c, being presented with a wonderful opportunity to do something for others for a change.

Thanks to the organisation I work for, the Autovista Group; I have been offered the opportunity to challenge myself and to make a positive impact on the lives of children in some of the most remote and deprived locations in the world.

Along with the rest of my Autovista team "Twende" we will be trying to raise 26k to buy a 4-wheel drive support unit which will provide vaccination programmes and medical care to children in remote communities.

To raise these funds I will be doing a number of challenges leading up to the finale...  the climbing of Mt Kilimanjaro in Feb 2019.

The milestones challenges ahead of that will include; cycling from Liverpool to Leeds, climbing the 3 largest mountains in the UK in one weekend, then the 3 Yorkshire Peak in one day, and then my first 10k run (I hate running and there is a reason I've left this to last).

Which if it doesn't Kili me, will no doubt make me stronger.

So please give generously to Unicef's very worthy cause, because its a wonderful thing to do, and to motivate me as I haul my substantial frame through various torturous environments over the next 8 months.

Won't somebody please think of the children.

And the old man trying to help them.

Thanks Dan
