Rising awareness of bowel cancer, as it is one of the most treatable of cancers if caught early, promoting screening and helping people remain in their homes rather than have to go to hospice or hospital.
Paul Daisley was more than my uncle. Paul was a charismatic and honest leader. A great and true gentleman and someone who taught me a huge amount in life whether on purpose or just because of the person he was.
Since Paul’s untimely death I’ve been proud to be a part of the Paul Daisley Trust, albeit on the periphery. It’s my time to step up to the mark and challenge myself.
I love a challenge and try to push myself in all aspects of life. Without question, this adventure is the most challenging event I've ever dared commit to. Those who know me well are aware of my love of swimming, a past time enjoyed over the last two years. Swimming in the local pool has many safety nets and luxuries like a floor to rest on, a pool side to rest and push off and the most topical benefit lodged in my mind warmth! Regrettably, Coniston has none of the above, even worse holds the title of “Chill Swim”!
Myself and two swimming pals (Neil Lucas and Tim Schofield) have commenced training at Scissett Sports Centre and will soon be able to venture outside to brave the elements training in Pugney’s Water Park, Wakefield. My experience of freshwater swimming is limited to one 1500 meter swim last year, a great deal of work required to achieve our ultimate goal of swimming a length of Coniston, five and quarter miles on 6th September.
We are searching for sponsors with the aim of raising £1500 to support the Paul Daisley Trust and therefore the great work and support the charity provides. Whether penny or pounds every little helps. For further information please view the following web site
Many thanks in advance
