Story
Dance classes for people living with Parkinson's at QUB began in 2018 as a part of a research project and have since become a community. When the Covid-19 crisis began, we relocated from the QUB PEC to Zoom. We have been dancing together twice weekly ever since. Here is what some participants have to say about the classes:
"Our dance group has the best weapon in our daily battle with Parkinsons. It is the exercise and movement in our ZOOM class, by far the most cost effective way of retaliating against our foe, whilst staying safe and keeping the pressure off the NHS."
"We are people whose lives have been blighted by this dreadful disease. We are also now self-isolating. Apart from the essential physical benefit, the class gives us a terrific mental boost."
"After Anna’s dance class, which is an eclectic mix of dance and music, I feel energised and uplifted."
"The online class is a good form of exercise to get you up and moving and keeping in touch with everyone."
We also created this video project, which was granted the Judges Award in the Parkinson's Art Competition. There were more than 65 entries from all over the world and we were one of four to receive an award: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA9CO-uk0zs&feature=emb_logo
