Story
I have been carefully restoring a Bristol VR double decker bus for the last couple of years, ready to set off in April 2008 for an overland expedition to Nepal. If the double entry visas for Pakistan do not come through (fingers crossed though) we will have to run our contingency route through from Europe, Iran, The Stans, Russia, and the Arctic Circle .. still an amazing trip.
The project has been pretty large to say the least and we are paying for the costs ourselves (that is me and my friend Matt), as well as a few very kind product sponors such as Good Year, who have donated the tyres (which always come in handy on a 22,500 round trip!) and some very generous sponsorship from Expedia (www.expedia.co.uk) for the diesel costs. Also thanks to Sea France for the ferry crossing. You will be able to follow Dan's trip via his videoblos on www.letyourselfgo.co.uk (goes live late April 2008).
For those of you interested the bus has a 12 litre Gardener engine, does a top speed of 75 miles an hour and has a roomy 480sq ft interior over two decks. We hopefully have thought of most things ahead, making a unque fold-down top deck so we can squeeze under any low bridges!
I would be so grateful if you could make our journey even more worthwhile by donating to my charity - the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.
Thanks so much, Dan
PS . we will be back in 5 months hopefully - in case you are wondering how long it will all take us!
