Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
For several years I have dealt with some of the most inspirational people on earth. I have created challenges for our fantastic supporters to complete. I have watched from the sidelines as many people have done incredible things for us. I thought it was about time I got off my (currently) fat ass and did something. So now it's my turn.........
I currently weigh (22nd February 2011) more than 17 stone. I am what's technically known as a 'lard arse'. 12 months ago I stopped smoking after 20 years. Two weeks ago I became a member of The Fitness Room based at Pinewood Studios and under the guidance of owner and personal trainer, David Kingsbury, I have been 'beasting' myself daily and I have set myself a target of getting down to 14 stone. Why?
Well........... you can't jump out of an aeroplane if you're a fatty!
I watched in awe as one of my heroes, Ben Parkinson leapt from an aeroplane on a special skydive that we arranged for him with the incredible Jump4Heroes team. Ben said to me that day "I've done it. Now you do one too!". How can I not do a jump after what Ben has been through?
So Ben, this is for you and the hundreds of amazing veterans like you who fight for our freedom.
I am going to jump. I am going to jump several times in practise and training. In fact, I am going to be performing a static line jump from a WWII aircraft dressed in WWII AIRBORNE uniform!
I need to lose a lot of weight, I need to learn to jump and then I need to go to Holland and throw myself out of a perfectly serviceable aircraft with Stuart Humphries, Editor of WWII Re-enactors Magazine who's insane idea this is (thanks Stu!).
ALL YOU LOT NEED TO DO IS SPONSOR ME!
Please give every pennny you can. There are so many amazing people who need our help. From WWII veterans to wounded heroes like Ben. From bereaved families to unemployed and homless former service personnel.
PLEASE SUPPORT MY CHALLENGE. Thank you!
