Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. To "celebrate" turning fifty I thought I'd do something a little different and with the support of my son, Matthew, I'm planning to run my first marathon.....but I'll let the following verse tell the story.......
Have ye heard the story, boy it’s a stunner
They say that Danny’s gonnae do a runner
Ye cannae blame him, it must be a scunner
The poor lad’s aboot tae turn half a hunner
But dinnae panic, he’s no lost the place
He’s only running yon Edinburgh race
And just to make sure he disnae disgrace
He’s goat his wee laddie to set the pace
To do somethin different, he thought he’d hiv tae
To celebrate the fact that he’s turning fifty
To reach oor target wid just be so nifty
So empty yir pockets and dinnae be thrifty
But twenty six miles is a long way to lope
And wae fifty year old legs how will he cope
Danny may be silly but he’s no such a dope
He’ll finish behind Matthew with the aid of a rope!
Two days to go and the the challange is to keep the old body tickin over.....
Joggers nipple and swollen tendon
My knees are shot and I’ve trouble bendin
My body’s crumbling and in need of mendin
Thank god this training is nearly endin
The physiotherapy is quite exhaustin
I’ve stopped counting how much it’s costin
So many ice packs I’ve trouble defrostin
I’ve been rebuilt like yon Steve Austen
To run the race like a man bionic
That would be great, yes just the tonic
Perhaps if my bottom half were electronic
Sunday wouldn’t make me feel so colonic!
