SimplyHealth Great North Run 2018 · 9 September 2018 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the Great North Run on September 9th,2018 with some friends Martin Donnelly,Adam Smith and Jonathan Graham to continue promoting awareness to our Ambers Law campaign and to raise awareness of cervical cancer.
My daughter Amber Rose Cliff tragically passed away on January 8th,2017 aged only 25, from cervical cancer that spread to her lungs and throat after a long and brave battle. She was denied a smear test by her GP on numerous occasions due to her being under the age of 25.She eventually went for a private consultation and was immediately diagnosed with stage 2b cervical cancer. After a 4 year battle and undergoing many operations as well as gruelling chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, the cancer had spread and she couldnt fight any longer.
We have been actively fighting to get the age of cervical screening lowered from 25 to 18 for young women who are showing symptoms such as irregular bleeding and abdominal pain so that what happened to Amber can hopefully be prevented. No young lady should have to go through such pain if it can be prevented.Age should not be an excuse. We have had Ambers Law up for debate in parliament on Prime ministers question time assisted greatly by our MP Julie Elliott. We also have over 372,000 signatures to our online petition on change.org Make the cervical screening option available from 18 to high risk groups.
We will continue our fight until we get the change we need.Your continued support is invaluable and appreciated so much.
