Story
Hello, my name's David Wood. I'm a Community Fundraiser for the Meningitis Trust. This year I decided to run all of the marathons in the UK capitals in 2006 to help the Meningitis Trust, the UK's leading meningitis charity, continue its life-saving work. On 15th October I completed the challenge!
The Meningitis Trust provides support for life to thousands of people who are affected by meningitis each year. We also provide education for families and health professionals about the signs and symptoms of meningitis, and fund life-saving research. As less than 1 per cent of our funding comes from the government, we rely on people like you to sponsor crazy people like me to help us continue our work.
Thank you ever so much for your kind donation. It will go a long way, not only to saving lives, but also to helping those devastated by this terrible disease fight back . David Wood
PS The dates for the Marathons: London - 23rd April, 5:00:16 Belfast - 1st May 6:31:01 Edinburgh - 11th June, 5:26:59 Cardiff - 15th October, 4:25:55

London went well, managed to run it all. Belfast was harder. Had to hobble the last 12 miles as my left knee hurt. Edinburgh was a great route. Had to walk a few short stretches of it, but pulled through it in the end, tearing up the last 4 miles (well, fast for me any way) and finishing with a sprint finish! Cardiff was good, as it was two laps of a half marathon course, come the second lap, you could really see how much closer you were getting to the finish line. Finishing inside the Millenium Stadium was excellent!
