Story
Dear Friends
On Sunday May 24th 2009 David will take part in a 5km run to raise money for the GM Trust. Given David is far away from "running" he will be relying on his parents to push him in a buggy the whole way.
Since the last time we raised sponsorship funds for this cause, nearly two years ago, we have become parents to our son, David. Having a healthy child has been such a blessing but has also given us a greater appreciation of the difficulties faced by familes less fortunate than we have been. Families like Gavriel's, ever since he was first diagnosed with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy in August 2006.
Two years have gone by and our lives have moved on. Yet too easily we forget that for children such as Gavriel, their daily lives become more and more of a struggle as their health deteriorates. Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy is a fatal disease still lacking a cure and organisations such as the GM Trust are in desperate need of money in order to continue funding research.
In the current economic climate charities are particularly struggling to meet their funding needs as everyone cuts back on their spending. We urge you however, now more than ever, to donate generously to this important cause which is so close to our hearts.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor David: GM Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
We chose to "run" this event in David's name as we believe one day he will be proud to have been involved in raising money for such a worthy cause, just as we are today.
So please sponsor David now!
