The Dean’s Walk (partly in the footsteps of St Magnus) - An adventure down through the United Diocese from the top of Shetland to Aberdeen. Walking from Scaw, Unst in Shetland, via Orkney to Fraserburgh and on to Aberdeen, because I am raising funds for the Comper Windows at St Margaret’s Gallowgate.
I leave Aberdeen on Sunday the 3rd of May and sail to the Shetland Isles. On the following day the Walk begins at Scaw in Unst in Shetland. During the first week journey is made down through Shetland, leaving Lerwick on Friday 8th and sailing to Kirkwall in Orkney. On Saturday the 9th of May traverse is made across Orkney past Maeshowe to Stomness.
On Monday 11th, the journey continues by sailing to Scrabster in Caithness. On Tuesday 12th the Walk begins again at Fraserburgh, by using the old railway line from the Broch to Dyce and then on to Aberdeen. The journey ends on Saturday 16th on May.
Steven Boon, one of the Vestry at St Margaret’s and who walked to Lismore last year, is walking the whole way. Prof Allan Macinnes and others from St Margaret’s are joining us in the leg from Buchan, through Formartine to Aberdeen.
