Story
Hi Everyone,
As some of you will know a very good friend of mine sadly died last year. Dominic Welham (married to my very best friend Caroline, whom I have known for over 34 years) lost his short battle with cancer on Christmas Eve 2007.
In honour of his memory I have decided to run the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 21 September for the wonderful charity he supported, Wooden Spoon. As a keen rugby player and, for many years, Captain of the Law Society rugby team, Dom had been involved with this charity for a long time.
Wooden Spoon is rugby's charity supporting mentally, physically and socially disadvantaged children and young people. Spoon has committed to over £14 million in spending for projects for children and young people. It has organised over 2,000 events and had over 25,000 ties worn by its loyal members and supporters. Hardworking staff and volunteers have achieved all of this since the birth of the charity. For further information please go to http://www.woodenspoon.com |
I hope that you will all be as generous as you can be despite this terrible credit crunch for what is a truly great cause and a charity that contributes to many lives making them so much better and hopeful. Remember a small donation now may stop AJ (my wonderful and supportive husband) from calling you for more!!
I have no doubt that at the 9 mile stage when it is likely that the old legs will be in some pain and feeling like two lumps of lead Dom will be looking down guiding me to that ever elusive finishing line, saying “go on girl you know you can do it!”
Thanks in advance for your support and generosity.
Love
Deborah xx
