CUMBRIAN HALF MARATHON · 25 October 2009
Thanks for taking the time to vistit our JustGiving page.
Ha ha, this will come as a massive shock to most of my friends.
Yes I admit I could only run a bath in May this year. Then got blown up while out in and that made me determined to run The Cumbrian Run to raise money to help our brave injured soldiers.I am training hard for this so please give generously; it is a very worthy charity.
Thanks Lisa xx
lisa and i decided to do the cumbrian for Help for Heroes when i came back from Afghanistan, i had a short stay in sellyoak hospital after getting on the wrong side of a Taleban IED. The military ward at sellyoak has become very busy over recent years with wounded soldiers returning from sandy places. The facilities within the military ward are great and thats down to charities like H4H, everything from internet laptops to clean clothing are made avaiable to make things slightly more comfy for the wounded soldiers.
Once discharged from hospital, for some its still a long way to leading a 'normal life' with months of rehab at places like headly court, which again is made so much better by charities. a swimming pool is being built right now thanks to H4H.
Its not just for the soldiers, families/wifes/girlfriends who visit need places to stay, accomodation is made available for anyone who visits, these houses/hostels are all charity run and require funding.
Ive had first hand exprience of how the charities work, i am one of the lucky ones, i am not in hospital anymore, but still very very greatful of what support i received, this would not have been possible without charities like H4H, so i want to give something back - hopefully £1000
Two of my pals who i came back with are still getting treatment at rehab clinics
so come on troops..................dig deep and donate
Thanks
