Story
Denis Lambeth passed away in January 2014 at the age of eighty from the effects of progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
Den was the loving husband of Valerie for sixty years, father to Andrew, Tracy and Ian, grandfather to ten grandchildren, and great-grandfather to nine. He is deeply missed.
Den's family have asked that donations be made to the PSPA by way of celebration of his life and rememberance of his passing.
During the early stages of Den's disease there was a lot of uncertainty regarding the cause of his progressively declining health; a reflection of how very little known PSP is - even amongst the medical community. Once Den was finally diagnosed the PSP Association offered invaluable information and support to those who loved and cared for him.
PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) is a degenerative neurological disease that can affect a person's sense of balance, often causing progressive muscle weakness (from arms and legs to the muscles that control continence, speech and swallowing) and loss of visual focus, while also weakening a person's memory and cognition.
One of Den's initial signs of PSP was falling over, yet it took years for physicians to understand or diagnose him, a common experience among many PSP sufferers who are often misdiagnosed or ignored. There is no cure for this disease, and little treatment, due in part to a lack of awareness and research.
Your donation will empower the PSPA to continue the work they do in promoting awareness of, research into and treatment of this disease: a cause that Den expressed his desire to support in any way he could.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – they will not be shared or used to send you unwanted emails. If you chose to donate the money will be sent directly to the PSPA. It's an efficient way to donate that saves time and cuts costs for the charity.
