Stornoway Marathon, 10k & Fun Run · 29 May 2010 ·

Each week 5 babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and two young lives are lost. CF is a life-long, chronic condition and there is currently no cure. The Leanne Fund helps sufferers of CF and their families by providing a range of services to make life a little easier - making a difference today.

Story

Hi Folks,

Believe it or not i intend to run the Stornoway Half Marathon on the 29th of May 2010. At the beginning of the year I began training with some friends who were going to run the Stornoway Half Marathon for charity, and I decided I’d do the same. We’re all total novices but have been training hard and put in a lot of hours and miles. So hopefully come the day we’ll be reasonably well prepared to complete the course.

Choosing to support the Leanne Fund was easy for me as I’ve known the family all my life and have always admired the way Leanne and all her family dealt with the difficulties they endured, so if raising a few quid will help them help others tackle the difficulties familys living with CF endure, well that would be fantastic.

' The Leanne Fund ' was set up in 2009 in memory of Leanne Mitchell.

Leanne was an incredibly special young woman, adored by her family and all who knew her.  Leanne had an incredible strength and determination to live life to the full, making the most of every precious moment.  Leanne’s life was inspirational and this fund represents Leanne’s heartfelt desire to bring happiness to other people’s lives.

The fund, is open to all young people (up to 25 years) with Cystic Fibrosis in the Highlands and Western Isles area of Scotland.

The fund will be used to provide non-medical treats for patients and carers – things that would not normally be provided on the National Health Service (NHS).  Some examples may include: - driving lessons, weekend breaks, concert tickets, activity days etc.

It is hoped that the fund will provide a unique opportunity for CF patients to treat themselves to something special or to do something really special – a chance to create happy memories.

Your support will help to fulfil Leanne’s wish to make a difference in the lives of young people with CF.
