Story
On June 20th 2014 I was told the news that, if I'm honest I already knew. I was Type II Diabetic and, in reality, I had no-one but myself to blame.
It turned out to be the biggest turning point of my life, I finally woke up and realised what I was doing to myself and how I would probably not last the next 20 years if I let it continue
Since that time I have lost a total of almost 8 stone (109lb or 48kg) and have reversed the diabetes which has plagued me and am now, at the age of 33 fitter than I have ever been.
However, I owe a debt of gratitude I can never repay to those around me who have supported me through everything, starting with my family and friends and moving on to the medical staff who've worked and believed in me so this is the beginning of my attempt to pay back at least some of that debt of gratitude
On 11th of November 2015 at 8pm there is a 5k run called the Run In The Dark which will take place at Salford Quays and for the first time in my life I'll be running in a distance event
http://www.runinthedark.org/manchester
The entrance fee goes to Mark Pollock Trust for Spinal Injuries and anything donated will go to Diabetes UK in order to help them face the challenge of the UK's 3 million Diabetics and £10bn cost of treating them.
Their work will help ensure a future where Type 2 Diabetes and, hopefully, even Type 1 Diabetes has been sent back into the dark never to return
You can help me – donate today and thank-you for any and all support
