It's all over!! Not the easiest thing I've ever done but I got through it in 5h19m36s. Thanks again for all the sponsorship and please somebody stop me if it looks like I'm going to ever do this again.

Been to ExCel to pick up my number (53834). Apparently you can check how slow I'm going on race day via this link http://results-2012.virginlondonmarathon.com/2012/

Massive thanks to everyone who's sponsored me. If anyone's coming up to London on Sunday and fancies a beer or 2 I'll be in The Chandos http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/65/657/ (if I get to the finish). 4 days to go....
14 April
Only ran once last week and took it very easy but still felt a bit dodgy. Fine line between resting/losing the fitness and trying to do too much/aggrevating the injury. 8 days to go....
09 April
Haven't run for nearly a week now but legs feel like they're starting to recover. Did 26 miles on a bike yesterday and hoping to have a gentle run tomorrow night. 13 days to go....
04 April
Ok, this is seriously bad timing. Went for a gentle 6 miles last night and the annoying dull pain I've been feeling in my right leg for about a month has suddenly flared up. Looks like shin splints have finally got the better of me. Ice, ice and more ice in an attempt to get them sorted in time. Not happy!

Didn't quite manage 20 yesterday but a gruelling 17 through the North Downs was more than enough. Time to start winding down a bit and looking after the aches & pains.
31 March
Big day tomorrow. 20 miles. March Total: 124 Miles
26 March
Had a nice day down the coast with mum & kids yesterday. Weather lovely for the Hastings half marathon. Thanks mum for looking after the herberts whilst I did my run. Even though it was hilly I knocked nearly a minute off my previous half marathon time. 1hr59mins01secs. Well pleased with that. Now comes the hardest week of the training - 5 tuesday - 10 wednesday - 5 thursday - 20 saturday!!!
21 March
Made up for the weekend's shoddy performance today. Went for a scheduled 9 miles but felt good so decided to carry on. Ended up managing the 18 that I couldn't do at the weekend. Back on track.
18 March
First major blip! Went to do a scheduled long run (18 miles) but felt bad from the start and only managed 12 before I had to cry for help and get Carol to come and pick me up!! One word is to blame for this.....Cheltenham. 40 odd pints of Guinness still swilling round inside me was bound to take it's toll sooner or later!
11 March
1st ever half marathon done today. Iphone died at about mile 2 so I had no idea what pace I was doing. Was hoping for 2hrs10mins (10 min/mile). Finished in 1hr59min58secs!! Legs like jelly now. Thanks for the donations so far!
4 March
So, it was my Birthday yesterday and I went out with my Mum, Wife & family and had 2 pints of Guinness!! So today was the first time in years I can remember waking up after my Birthday without a headache. It was all in the name of this silly run! Still, managed 16 miles this morning in the pissing rain. Not pleasant!
29 February
February Summary: 117 Miles
24 February
Getting serious now!! Managed to complete 15.5 miles. Actually felt quite good but my legs really started to go at about 14 miles.
21 February
It has been suggested to me that maybe I could use some new trainers. Went to Alan Pope's shop 'Up & Running' in Sevenoaks. Well worth a visit! Great advice and a brand spanking new pair of trainers for me to run in tonight. Watch me go!!!!
4 February
12 miles with Ashley Talbot this morning. She puts me to shame! I've never known anyone who can run and talk so much! Just when I was feeling rough I got the full lowdown on pre-clampsia, placenta, puking in a kidney dish, the works. Cheers Ash!! Video added.
1 February
January Summary: 78 Miles
28 January
7 miles with Olly Powell this morning. Thanks for the stretching exercises at the end. Maybe I should have done these before!!
26 January
Video added. Uphill struggle!!
23 January
Shoreham night run done! 10 miles took about 2 hours through the mud (with quite a few stops to regroup).
This week's plan: Tue 3 miles, Wed 5 miles, Thu 3 miles, Sat 7 miles.
20 January
First double figures run tomorrow. 10 mile night run through the trails of Shoreham. New trail shoes - check, headtorch - check, the staying power to run 10 miles - as yet unknown. How hard can it be????

Friends, Colleagues, Family,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On April 22 2012 I will be dragging my sorry ass through the streets of London for my chosen charity, Bromley Mind. Training started on Boxing Day and so far I am up to about 20 miles per week. I'm not going to break any records but hope to finish in front of the bloke in the divers suit.
