The MoonWalk Edinburgh 2008 · 14 June 2008 ·
Hi there everyone,
Thanks for visiting the Team Discombobulator fundraising page. Team Discombobulator are employees of IKM Consulting - an environmental, engineering and architectural consultancy based in Grangemouth, Scotland.
Firstly we feel we should clarify what our team name means:
Discombobulate: a) to confuse or disconcert; upset; frustrate: The speaker was completely discombobulated by the hecklers
b) to throw into a state of confusion
Secondly, who's crackpot idea was this in the first place? Well, the short answer is Discombobulated Liz, who found a leaflet advertising the Moonwalk at Ratho Climbing Wall and thought it'd be a great way to get fit and raise money for a good cause. (LC - actually, it was more like a legitimate reason to walk around in my bra in public.....) She brought it into the office and suggested we sign up, and of course a group of us agreed (we were discombobulated at the time).
We hope to raise as much money possible for breast cancer charities. We completed our marathon walk around Edinburgh - 26 and a bit miles- on Saturday 14th June. We set off at midnight, and walked through the night for 9 hours 38 minutes and 57 seconds! It was a long night. Last year the Moonwalk raised over £2 million squids, and this year the aim is higher.
We would like to say a huge THANKS to everyone who has supported us so far. We have exceeded our target of £5000 and you generous people keep on donating!
Please donate as much as you can to the cause. By donating directly through this page, the money can go directly to the charity. In addition, if you are a UK taxpayer an extra 25% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. How good is that?
Anyway, please support us in this. It is, after all, a very good cause.
