Young Epilepsy is dedicated to standing up for children and young people with epilepsy. We’re here for them. But we need your support because epilepsy is limiting the chances of thousands of children today and may continue to do so for the rest of their lives. Together we create possible.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I wanted to do what I love to Raise money and awareness for the charity, Young Epilepsy. My partner Lucy is going to tell you why:

Recently my stepbrother David sadly passed away at the young age of 23. He was a kind, caring young man, totally without malice and unable to lie. He was passionate about movies and games that he would play over and over again, reflecting his love of fantasy, all things magical and anything with special powers! He enjoyed being part of the drama group, 'stage right' and had the staring role of Danny Zuko in Grease last year. He had also recently obtained his green belt in tai chi!

Diagnosed from birth with Autism and Epilepsy, David would have many fits every day and was on 14 different tablets all with adverse side effects that could often aggravate his Autism. at the age of 8 the charity' Young Epilepsy' were there to help diagnose, provide earlier treatment and assist the family in how to deal with epilepsy. After assessing David they were able to reduce his medication to 1 type of tablet a day which dramatically reduced his fits, his family were more informed on how to look after him and his life became a happier one.

for the last 3 years he had been in assisted living, really giving him his own independence and opportunity to live his life to the max! He really loved it and made such a good group of friends out of it, he did college courses in horticulture and metal forging and was always proudly showing us the things he had made.

So please donate to this fantastic charity, giving young children with epilepsy the starting blocks to go out and show the world what they can really do!

In memory of David Brophy, he had so many friends and was loved by all.
